This is my Life
When every resident joins us, we complete a ‘This is my Life’ brochure with them and friends and family, so that we know them as a person. Their life history and experiences, favourite food and tipple, films, music, interests and hobbies, etc. so that we can tailor their care and activities to suit them. Our staff soon get to have a close relationship with them, discussing things close to their heart, becoming their friend.

Activities Tailored To Each Resident
We always have a range of group activities from painting to flower arranging, to playing with our portable interactive screen or taking part in balloon tennis!
For less active residents one- to- one time is spent on their interests with the screen, reading the newspaper or just chatting.

Performers Come In To Entertain Our Residents
We regularly book outside artistes to give live entertainment, it could be Elvis, the local school choir, a ukulele band of Daisy the cockapoo! Church services are arranged for those who want to attend, and families often join us for garden tea parties. Afternoon pamper sessions are very well appreciated.

Trips & Local Excursions
Before the pandemic, we had a programme of regular trips out in our own minibus,when the weather permitted, and these will soon be be resumed. Trips to the museum, art galleries, the castle, Roath park, an afternoon in the Bay, or pub lunches were always a welcome event that family members also enjoyed with us.

Music for Memory
Some years ago we researched that music is very beneficial for memory. Songs and music often trigger a memory of a particular time or person in our life. So we developed a programme of personalised sessions of favourite songs and music using headphones to make the experience more intense, and now most residents have their individual playlist on Spotify!
